10th anniversary of the Seoul Lantern Festival 2018

Seoul Lantern Festival

On the 10th anniversary of the Seoul Lantern Festival 2018, a 17-day festival will take place at Cheonggyecheon Stream (1.2km between Cheonggye Plaza and Supyo Bridge). The Seoul Lantern Festival 2018 will feature the Cheonggyecheon area in Seoul under the slogan ‘Seoul Dream, Flowing Light’ to reflect on the past and reflect the present.

You can travel through the light as if you are reenacting a long history and culture with lanterns. Artworks that seem to have been moved to the present day by honoring the culture and customs of various times can be seen walking around Cheonggyecheon Stream in downtown Seoul.

This year, the festival will be divided and displayed under four different themes: The Launch Point for a New Dream, Seoul’s Dream for the Future, Seoul’s Shining Memories, and Seoul Filled with Traditions. In addition, there will also be a variety of programs lined up such as sending up wish lanterns (Wish Lantern Launch Event), crafting traditional lanterns, and participating in SNS events.
