The 2019 Hwacheon Tomato Festival will be held in Hwacheon County, Gangwon Province, from August 1 to 4.
This year, in particular, the festival is being organized for the first time in 17 years under the leadership of a committee consisting of residents.
Until last year, Hwacheon County and a farming cooperative corporation jointly hosted the event.
The festival has become quite popular and visitors have responded positively, with the number of attendees increasing steadily.
In the case of last year’s festival, a survey conducted by a professional agency found that more than 98,000 people visited the festival over the four-day period. Of the total visitors, 1500 were foreigners.
