The Melon Music Awards will be newly held this year as “MMA.”
Melon, a music platform run by Kakao, will hold “MMA 2019 Imagine by Kia,” South Korea’s largest KPOP music awards event, on Nov. 30 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
Melon will redefine identity and change the name to MMA from the 11th edition of the award ceremony. Based on data from members of the nation’s largest music platform Melon during the year, “MMA” is recognized by artists and users as it selects winners based on votes from fans and expert screening.
The slogan of “MMA 2019” is “Full of Surprises.” Melon will release teaser videos introducing ‘MMA 2019’ and is expected to raise expectations for this year’s award ceremony through the schedule of the event and the highlight scenes of the past.
On Nov. 30, “MMA 2019” will be broadcast live worldwide via KakaoTalk, Melon, 1 TheK channel, Kakao TV and Daum.
MMA 2019 is planning to continue preparing for the award ceremony by releasing its lineup sequentially.
