Another typhoon on way to Korea

Another typhoon is barreling toward the Korean Peninsula.

Typhoon Mitag ― classified as “small” with the maximum sustained winds of 97 kph ― was 720 kilometers northeast of the Philippines as of 9 a.m. Sunday. The storm is moving northeast and is expected to reach the peninsula with torrential rain and strong winds on Wednesday, according to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA). Korea is still reeling from damage caused by Typhoon Tapah that made landfall and swept the country from west to east on Sept. 22. “Typhoon Mitag is expected to gain more strength as it passes through high-temperature waters of 29C and higher,” a KMA official said.
