Fan community app “Weverse” ― created by K-pop juggernaut BTS’s record label Big Hit Entertainment ― has accumulated more than 10 million downloads as of July.
It has taken about a year for the app to reach the milestone since its launch in June 2019, the app’s operator beNX, a subsidiary of Big Hit, said Thursday. The company was established in 2018 to become a trailblazer in the entertainment and media platform business.
Weverse is a platform where fans from around the globe can interact with K-pop stars ― including BTS, TXT, Seventeen, and GFriend ― and enjoy the singers’ music/entertainment content. Some 1.4 million followers from 229 regions use the app on a daily basis, beNX said.
The app provides an automatic translation of 10 languages and is connected to the merchandise store Weverse Shop. beNX is also planning to utilize machine learning to offer a wider range of services for users and recruit more talent.
“We will not become complacent and continue to innovate global fan culture through technology,” beNX CEO Seo Woo-seok, also known as Steve Seo, said. “We will keep making investments and tackling challenges to ensure that the artists and the fans can meet with a new experience every moment on Weverse.”
