K-pop girl group BLACKPINK has clinched No. 3 spot on the global Spotify chart with “Lovesick Girls,” the dreamy lead single off its first studio album “The Album” released on Oct. 2.
Three B-sides ― “Bet You Wanna (4),” “Pretty Savage (8)” and “Ice Cream (10)”― also ranked in the top 10 on the Global Top 50 chart, the band’s management company YG Entertainment said Sunday.
Spotify is the world’s biggest music streaming platform by the number of subscribers ― around 113 million.
“The Album” also topped iTunes album charts in 57 countries, including the United States, and ruled several Chinese and Japanese music charts such as QQ and Line Music.
“We wanted to showcase all kinds of music that we can do,” lead vocalist Rose said during an online press conference on Oct. 2.
The music video of “Lovesick Girls” had racked up more than 83 million views on YouTube as of Sunday afternoon. According to the agency, two members ― Jisoo and Jenni ― took part in making the song, including writing the lyrics.
BLACKPINK, consisting of Jennie, Jisoo, Rose and Lisa, debuted in 2016 and rose to stardom with big hits such as “Whistle (2016).”
