South Korean megastar band BTS has sold more than 600,000 tickets for it stadium tour so far, raking in a staggering $79 million.
According to figures reported to Billboard Boxscore, the K-pop act earned $44 million, selling 299,770 tickets, from it first “Love Yourself: Speak Yourself” U.S. stadium tour in three cities ― the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, Chicago’s Soldier Field and New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium ― earlier in May.
Its subsequent stadium tour of Sao Paolo, London and Paris added another $35 million for a combined $78.9 million and 606,409 tickets sold, according to Billboard.
The band’s record-breaking profit from the Los Angeles Rose Bowl alone was $16.6 million, the highest in the venue’s Boxscore history. The figure surpassed previous ticket sales records by top pop artists including Taylor Swift, U2, Beyonce, Jay-Z, Eminem and Rihanna.
BTS’s next stop will be cities across Japan in July ― the Yanmar Stadium Nagai in Osaka, and Stadium Ecopa in Shizuoka. These concerts are expected to push the total figure well beyond 100 billion won ($84 million) from ticket sales alone.
