ABC’s famous New Year’s Eve show with one of the most hot KPOP boy band in the world recorded explosive viewer ratings.
Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, the US representative New Year’s show, held on December 31st last year from 8pm to 10pm (local time), saw an average of 9.11 million people on the Nielsen Company basis.
This is an increase of 2.5 million viewers compared to the previous year. Particularly in the second half of the broadcast, 15.72 million people watched and showed 48% increase in viewer ratings from last year.
This show is held every year on a large scale in New York’s Times Square special stage and in Las Vegas, Hollywood and New Orleans. In 2012, Psy gathered topics on stage with Yoo Jae-seok and Noh Hong-chul with ‘Gangnam style’.
Billboard reported that, the superstar K-pop group didn’t disappoint during their explosive performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. Members Jungkook, RM, Suga, V, Jimin, Jin, and J-Hope drove fans wild with their pre-recorded performances of “Mic Drop” and “DNA.”
Not only did BTS have their biggest year ever in 2017, but also the most impactful year ever in the U.S. for a Korean group. Last year was eventfully full of releases and exciting moments that propelled the boy band from a fan favorite to major American award shows and the top tiers of Billboard’s most important charts.
Some foreign media said the viewers ratings have exploded thanks to BTS.
