A subway pass for foreign visitors in Seoul will offer from December unlimited rides in the capital.
Seoul Transportation Corp. aka Seoul Metro on Aug. 29 announced that unlimited subway access will be added to the Discover Seoul Pass, which offers free admission to popular tourist attractions and other discounts.
The pass is also usable as a transportation card but a user needs to add money to it. From December, however, the pass can be used to ride the Seoul subway system with no need to refill it.
The pass comes in single-day and three-day types and physical or mobile cards. The price will be set later after analyzing case studies in other countries to maximize visitor convenience in purchasing a pass.
Around 400 online and offline places will sell the pass including travel information booths in Seoul, convenience stores at Incheon International Airport and Korean tourism websites.
The corporation said, “Free transportation was the most desired function to be added to the Discover Seoul Pass by foreigners, and because more than 10 million foreign tourists visit Seoul every year, we developed this product as a customized item for them.”
