Popular boy band EXO has been tapped to advertise South Korea to foreigners, the country’s tourism promotion agency said Monday as it moves to attract more inbound visitors.
The K-pop boy band is taking part in the Korea Tourism Organization’s new promotional video series under the theme of “Korea asks you: Have you ever?” it said.
The slogan for the campaign is “Korea Asks You: Have You Ever?” and will focus on six different categories; history and tradition, daily lives of Koreans, adventure, trend, healing and Hallyu. EXO will be involved in advertisements and other content that take on each of those topics.
EXO’s promotional ads will begin airing on overseas television channels, YouTube, and Facebook from August. The KTO stated, “EXO is one of K-pop’s most representative stars, as can be seen by the fact that they performed at the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. They have a strong fandom base all over the world, and we believe they will be a great contribution in bringing more tourists to Korea.”
