This year’s first snowfalls will be in the Gangwon-do mountains between October 22 and 23.
According to a private weather company ‘K Weather’, the first snowfall is expected to take place in the middle of the mountainous region of Gangwon Province, where the cold air is moving over the Korean Peninsula from the day of the 22nd this Sunday.
Based on Mt. Seolak, last year’s first snow was on October 28th, and when the first snow comes on 22nd, it will be 6 days earlier than last year.
In Seoul, the first snow falls on November 21, based on normal years (1981 ~ 2010), and on November 26 last year.
K Weather official said “Although the temperature has been higher than normal in recent years due to the effects of high-altitude mobility, cold weather is expected to flow over the Korean Peninsula from day 22, and the temperature will drop significantly during the night,”
On the 23rd, the morning minimum temperature in Seoul is expected to stay at 18 degrees Celsius, which is 3 degrees lower than the previous day and the highest daytime temperature is 5 degrees lower than the previous day.
However, from 25th, it is expected that the temperature will rise again as the chill of the sky moves to the east.
