The Ministry of Creation Science and the Ministry of Justice announced that they will provide ‘Real-time Foreign Real Name Verification Service’, which will enable foreigners to visit Korea to open pre-paid mobile phones anytime and anywhere instantly, starting October 1.

In order for a foreigner to obtain a real-name authentication in order to open mobile phone in Korea, the identity of the person and the fact that he entered Korea should be proved. In the meantime, the immigration control system was created in the morning after entry, and the mobile phone could not be opened at the airport on the day of entry.
In the future, it will be possible to open the mobile phone with the passport at the airport immediately when foreigners enter the country by storing the identity data in the system during the immigration examination and improving the system so that the real name authentication service can be started immediately.
