‘2020 MTV VMA’ announced the award categories and candidates through the official website of MTV on July 30 (local time).
(G)I-DLE was nominated for the BEST K-POP category award with the title song ‘Oh my god’ of the third mini album ‘I trust’ released in April.
EXO’s ‘Obsession’, (G)I-DLE’s ‘Oh my god’, Red Velvet’s ‘Psycho’, Monsta X’s ‘SOMEONE’S SOMEONE’, TXT’s ‘Run Away’ , BTS’s ‘ON’ competes with (G)I-DLE’s ‘Oh my god’ for the BEST K-POP category.
‘Oh my god’ is a song by So-yeon, a leader who is evaluated as ‘a genius producer’, and is an urban hiphop genre expressing the theme “I believe in myself. Just believing in myself can make me proud.”
The music video of ‘Oh my god’ drew a strong message about love through bold and disruptive scenes. In particular, it broke through 17 million views in the first day, 30 million views in two days, and 50 million views in a week. and on the 9th July, three months after the public, it surpassed 100 million views of YouTube and proved the steady popularity of (G)I-DLE.
(G)I-DLE announced their official American debut in April by partnering with US Republic Records and releasing their third mini album’I trust’.
