Best 3 hidden honeymoon destinations in Korea
Many soon-to-be-married couples have been choosing domestic destinations for their honeymoons, while the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic places restrictions on travel to other countries.
While the nation’s southern resort island of Jeju, which has a great wealth of tourism assets, has become the most sought after honeymoon destination among domestic vacation spots, the Korean unit of HotelsCombined, a global hotel search engine, introduced three other unique destinations for honeymooners in a bid to provide more options.
The company made the recommendations after analyzing its search data collected from last year.
Well-known for its beautiful scenery, Geojedo Island
Well-known for its beautiful scenery, the entire Geoje Island, located in South Gyeongsang Province, can be a tourist destination.
Honeymooners are invited to drive the well-maintained coastal road along the vast South Sea. In particular, the 17.3-kilometer section from Hakdong to Wahyeon Beach is famous for its wonderful scenery, where a camellia forest, the dark blue sea, and various islands are densely harmonized to create superb views.
As tourists drive while enjoying the coastal views, they will see a beach with a long stretch of fine sand.
Oedo Botania, an exotic marine botanical park, is also recommended as it offers a perfect setting for taking pictures against the backdrops of the forest and the sea.
Among local hotels, the exterior of Sono Calm Geoje catches the eyes of visitors, in addition to its neat interior, with guest rooms equipped with essential furniture and accessories, designed for guest convenience.
The hotel has a water park called Ocean Bay, with an indoor sauna and restaurants.
Yeosu, has been famous ever since “Yeosu Night Sea,”
Yeosu, located in South Jeolla Province, has been famous ever since the indie band Busker Busker released the song, “Yeosu Night Sea,” in 2012, the same year the city hosted the Expo.
During the day, tourists can enjoy the beautiful nature of Yeosu while riding the marine cable car at Dolsan Park and Dolsan Bridge.
At night, it is strongly recommended to take a light walk and enjoy a night view of the city. The promenade from Yi Sun-sin Square to Jongpo Marine Park and Hamel Lighthouse presents a romantic night view of the sparkling city and the sea.
Sono Calm Yeosu may be a perfect place to enjoy the sea of Yeosu from the comfort of your room, as this hotel is situated in the main sightseeing area ― it takes only about five minutes by car from KTX Yeosu Expo Station, Odong Island, and Yeosu World Expo.
For a more relaxing honeymoon, it is recommended to visit the hotel lounge that opened in April last year and has a cocktail with the night sea of Yeosu to soak up the romantic mood.
Those who want to have a more exciting experience are invited to visit Ramada Plaza by the Wyndham Dolsan Yeosu, where visitors can ride a 1.2-kilometer zipline departing from the 24th floor of the hotel and heading to Dolsan Island.
Samcheok, known for its beautiful ocean views
Samcheok in Gangwon Province is located right next to the East Sea, known for its beautiful ocean views.
The village on the seaside hill, called Naritgol, is famous for its colored old houses, allowing visitors to reminisce about the old days while roaming around the village.
One of the must-visit spots in Samcheok also includes “Surfkiki,” a section on Samcheok Beach that is known for its clear sea as well as diverse programs for learning how to surf.
There are also pleasant sculptures just like Hawaii’s Waikiki and pine forest paths nearby to take a break after surfing.
Located right in front of Samcheok Beach and Isabu Lion Park, Sol Beach Samcheok hotel gives tourists time to fully enjoy nature during their stay. In addition, the rooms and their neat interior design make a cozy setting for guests to relax.
Sol Beach Samcheok is also equipped with a variety of facilities, including a spa, supermarket, laundry room, and game room.
