Jeju Olle Trail named one of world’s top 10 coastal walks
Jeju Olle Trail on Jeju Island has been selected one of the world’s top 10 coastal walks by Active Traveller Magazine of the U.K.
Jeju Olle Foundation, which manages the trail, on April 9 said the course was the only one in Asia to make the list.
“Jeju is known locally as ‘treasure island’ – this hike is the jewel in its crown,” the magazine said. “Made up of 21 connected and well-signposted trails, the route follows the coastline and opens up endless views of deep blue ocean and the green Hallasan mountains rising in the interior.”
“You can even break up the miles by counting off the 368 ‘oreums,’ or mini volcanoes, that you pass.”
The top 10 list includes GR34 in France, also known as “Customs Trail,” Milford Track in New Zealand, famous as a shooting location of “The Lord of the Rings” movie franchise, and the Kalalau Trail in Hawaii.
The quarterly features the world’s best outdoor attractions and equipment for walking tours, mountain climbing, kayaking, and sailing. It also lists another top 10 lists such as Europe’s best walking destinations and the world’s best cycling courses and hiking landscapes.
