Spring Travel Week, slated for April 27 to May 12, will offer tourism products featuring warmer weather and greenery in Korea, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MCST) and the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) said on March 27.

Nine municipal or provincial governments such as those of Seoul, Gangwon-do Province and Jeju-do Island have designed tourism packages that highlight the charms of each region over the two-week period.

To mark the centennial anniversary of the Korean Declaration of Independence, the Seoul Metropolitan Government will offer the tour “Seoul, Walking with History” covering historical spots such as Deoksugung Palace, the cultural neighborhood of Insa-dong and Seodaemun Prison.

Mokpo, Jeollanam-do Province, will take travelers to the filming locations of the movie “1987” and historical and cultural spaces through the package “Mokpo, Retro Travel.”

The southern port city of Ulsan will feature a spring flower event near the Taehwagang River, and Jeju-do Island will offer a tour with photographers.

Spring Travel Week will also offer discounts. Shilla Stay will offer a discount package good at its 11 branches and Lotte Rent-a-Car will give specials over the event period. The online shopping site WeMakePrice will also cut 10 percent off the prices of 28 travel packages from five travel agencies.

The promotional lottery “Happiness of Rail Travel for KRW 10,000” will give 2,880 winners either an all-day train ticket or that with no accommodation for KRW 10,000 valid at all 25 routes covering the nation.
