Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) Wishes for Success at 2019 Gwangju FINA World Aquatics Championships Starts Full-scale Operation to attract 10,000 foreign tourists to SBS Inkigayo 2019 Super Concert which will be held on April 28 at Gwangju World Cup Stadium.

In order to lead the fever to a successful tour, the corporation began attracting KPOP fans by using 32 overseas branches and offices networks from 22 countries, jointly with local travel agencies and airlines to prepare colorful travel packages to visit local attractions such as Gwangju’s traditional market of 1913 Songjeong Station Market and Yanglim-dong Penguin Village, and by launching overseas promotional activities through online channels.
In the case of KPOP fans visiting Korea as a concert tour, BTS member J-Hope’s pre-debute dance academy in Gwangju where he practiced dancing when he’s younger, and experiences the dance performance of K-pop’s home town in person.
There will also be a chance where you can experience hallyu contents in person at the concert site. It will set up a promotional hall for the Korea Tourism Organization with special experiences that can only be experienced in Korea, such as wearing hanbok, Hallyu star Photo Zone, K-Pop dance and beauty experiences and street food. In addition, the company plans to introduce the 2019 Gwangju FINA World Aquatics Championships to be held in July and representative travel courses in Gwangju and other surrounding areas to promote the attraction of regional tourism.
A tour program will also be set up to visit nearby areas centered around Gwangju for foreign tourists who visit Gwangju individually. The corporation will jointly develop a variety of travel programs with travel agencies, including Jeonju, where visitors can experience tradition and food in the Jeolla provinces, Suncheonman National Garden, which has been selected as a wellness tourist destination, and the “Romance Tour,” which will give visitors a sense of the atmosphere of Yeosu.
“As this event is the beginning of China’s Labor Day and Japan’s Golden Week, it will serve as a catalyst for attracting 18 million foreign tourists this year,” said Han Hwa-joon, head of the tourism product division at the Korea Tourism Organization. “We will work closely with the organizing committee to support the successful hosting of the 2019 Gwangju FINA World Aquatics Championships and promote tourism in Gwangju and other regions.”
