Popular K-pop acts Wanna One, GOT7, Seventeen, Monsta X and Momoland are set to perform at the upcoming 2018 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) in December.
CJ E&M confirmed on Thursday that groups Wanna One and Monsta X will participate in the 2018 MAMA Fans’ Choice event in Japan on Dec. 12, while the other three groups will perform at 2018 MAMA in Hong Kong on Dec. 14. The first ceremony will kick off at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in central Seoul on Dec. 10.
The 2018 MAMAs, organized by CJ E&M’s music channel Mnet, is an annual ceremony that honors K-pop artists and music. This year, MAMA marks its 10th edition, and the ceremony will take place in three cities – Seoul, Saitama and Hong Kong. Mnet has changed the name of the ceremony several times since it was first held in 1999, but it has called the event MAMA since 2009.
This will be the first time in nine years that the ceremony is hosted in Seoul. Since 2010, the awards show has been held abroad, in regions including Singapore, Macau, Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh City.
