South Korean President Moon Jae-in said Thursday he will hold a summit meeting with the Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) in Manila, Philippines, to jointly work to develop bilateral ties.
“I hope to strengthen the relationship between Korea and ASEAN to the highest level,” said President Moon. “As stated through the ASEAN special envoy sent to the Philippines shortly after his inauguration, the Philippines is among the first ASEAN countries, It is a very special relationship as a friend to the ground forces. I want to develop my relationship with my old friend, the Philippines, to a higher level,” he added.
“I would like to actively cooperate with President Duterte’s” Ten Social and Economic agendas “in order to continuously develop the actual achievements of our two countries, and to cooperate with the best practices of cooperation in promoting the reciprocal interests of both governments and citizens,” President Moon said, “I am delighted that we have deepened our understanding and friendship with each other through close exchanges between our peoples. We will make a concerted effort to further strengthen this trend.”
President Duterte, who spoke before President Moon, said, “The bilateral relationship is expected to promote greater cooperation in various fields, such as trade and investment, than in the past.” (The Philippines) I have supported and have maintained a friendship for a long time.
