POP legend Paul McCartney of the Beatles has mentioned KPOP group BTS.
Paul McCartney appeared on the CBS talk show “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” on Monday (Korea time).
During the show, host Colbert asked Paul McCartney, “Do you know the Korean pop band BTS?” and Paul McCartney answered, “Yes.” Colbert said, “They’re the biggest thing on the planet right now.” Paul McCartney responded as “Yes I heard.”
The production team then introduced to Paul McCartney a video clip from which BTS previously appeared on “The Late Show” In May, BTS visited the “The Late Show” and staged a stage for “Boy With Luv” which was ordered to host the Beatles in line with the concept of “21st Century Beatles.” During the talk, they extemporally sang “Hey Jude” when asked if they had a favorite Beatles song.
Paul McCartney smiled pleasedly as he watched a video of BTS singing “Hey Jude” to the “The Late Show” band live. This scene is drawing much attention through social networking services right after the broadcast.
The Late Show is CBS’ flagship program that currently tops ratings among U.S. talk shows. There have been various guests including politicians, singers and actors such as Hillary Clinton, Lady Gaga and Ryan Reynolds. Analysts say that the image of Paul McCartney, who is called the pop legend on a famous U.S. talk show, left a deep impression on him asking questions about BTS in person.
Meanwhile, BTS, which returned home from filming schedules overseas on the same day, will focus on preparing for the performance ahead of its concert in Saudi Arabia on Oct. 11.
