Romance-thriller series ‘Flower of Evil’ ends with its highest rating

Romance-thriller series 'Flower of Evil' ends with its highest ratingTvN’s romance-thriller series “Flower of Evil” wrapped up with its highest rating on Wednesday.

The last episode scored a nationwide 5.7 percent viewership, with a 6.6 percent rating in the greater Seoul area.

The series, which started on July 29, has enjoyed popularity because of the actors’ stellar performances and the cliff-hangers in every episode.

The story follows metal craftsman Baek Hee-seong (Lee Joon-gi) who hides that he is the son of an infamous serial killer from Cha Ji-won (Moon Chae-won), his wife who also is a detective.

The couple’s relationship takes a turn when Ji-won starts to suspect that her husband may be an accomplice of the killer.

Lee said it was a challenging role.

“The character seemed to be very complicated, so I felt overwhelmed in the beginning,” Lee said. “I think this series will linger in me for a long time.”

He expressed gratitude for the many staff members who helped him understand the character better.

Moon also said she had difficulty playing her character, who goes on an “emotional rollercoaster” ― from suspecting her husband to finding out the sad truth.

“I thought it would be challenging but it was much harder when I put it into action, as her emotion changes so dynamically … I had to figure out the ways to express the feelings convincingly to the viewers,” she said. “I felt satisfied when that hard work produced such good results.”

This was the second time the two stars had worked together, after the crime thriller “Criminal Minds.”

“Joon-gi is outgoing, whereas I’m introverted … but despite that difference, our chemistry always seemed to hit it off,” Moon said. “As he always encouraged me on the set with his energy, he was such a great partner.”
