About 30 minutes from the Garden of the Morning Calm, we arrived at the port that will take us to Nami Island. Our tour package already includes our roundtrip ferry ride and entrance to Nami Island. Our tour guide provided us with our entry “visa” and asked us to wait for the next ferry ride to the island. The ferry ride took around 10 minutes.

Nami or Namiseom Island is a tiny half-moon shaped island located in Chuncheon, South Korea. It was named after General Nami, who led a great victory against the rebels in the 13th year of the 7th king of the Joseon Dynasty, King Sejo. The place was popular because of its beautiful foliage and its tree-lined roads. It was even made more popular by different K-drama who shot some of their pivotal scenes on the island (remember “Winter Sonata”?). Did you know that there are no telephone and electric poles in the island since those lines were made underground to preserve the natural beauty of the island? The 430,000 square meter island can be explored by walking around different trails or you can also rent a bike if you don’t want to explore by foot and to cover more areas.

They say Nami Island is beautiful whichever season you get to visit. Since we were there during the autumn season, imagine all the fiery reds, vibrant oranges and bright yellows we get to see around!
It took us around three hours to explore the island. We have to make sure that we are back to where our bus was parked or else our tour will leave us. Yup, they do not wait for latecomers or else you need to ride a taxi to your next destination. We made it on time with some time to grab a few snacks in the convenience store nearby. Once all from our group boarded the bus, off we go to Petite France!
