Sarah’s Korea Trip – Colorful World at the Garden of the Morning Calm

Since we had an early night after our N Seoul Tower trip, we were refreshed and were ready for another full day of activities. If you want a change of scenery out of the city, a day trip to Gapyeong might be a good idea. Travel time to Gapyeong may take around 2 hours by bus from Seoul. We decided to take advantage of the tour packages offered via Klook. We booked for a day trip organized by Ktourstory that took us to three locations: The Garden of the Morning Calm, Nami Island and Petite France.

Our tour bus met us at the Myeongdong Station Exit 2 meeting place. Our first stop for the day was at the Garden of the Morning Calm. The Garden of the Morning Calm is said to be the oldest private garden in South Korea. It is surrounded by mountains, lush trees and landscaped gardens blooming with colorful flora. The colors of autumn were already in full bloom when we were there and since it was also almost winter when we took our trip, it was really freezing that morning that some parts of the garden are already covered with frost.

We were given a good two hours to explore the garden. The garden was so big that we didn’t really get to explore its entirety Nevertheless, we were definitely awed by all the colors and beautiful surroundings around the garden. I guess, I just let these photos I took do all the talking.

The garden is really big so be prepared for a lot of walking and sometimes a bit of a hike. Too bad we have such limited time and didn’t get to see all of the 26 themed sections of the garden. After a quick snack, our tour group went to our next destination: Nami Island!
