US President Donald Trump did not answer the question of whether he would visit the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) next month(November).
According to the Washington Post, President Trump has held a press conference after meeting with Senator McCormack Senator Ronald Reagan on Wednesday (local time). In a press conference, the reporter asked, “Do you want to visit the DMZ, which is the worst possible time that you can provoke North Korea if you take the DMZ now?” Mr. Trump said, “I will visit Korea, China, Japan, Vietnam, “We have not had a detailed plan yet.”
As the following question, “Are you afraid of provoking North Korea by going to the DMZ?” President Trump answered, “I have not heard of provocation, but I will watch.”
Earlier in the day, the Asahi newspaper reported, “Trump will not visit the DMZ” according to a Seoul correspondent. President Trump’s draft state visit plan included a visit to the DMZ, but the two governments have raised the issue of safety as “President Trump may be the target”, the newspaper said.
Trump will hold a summit with President Moon Jae-in on the 7th of next month. The Korean government is pushing for a two-night, three-day schedule, but there are many observations that the Japanese schedule will end in one night and two days in the Japanese media.
