South Korea, heavy snowfall in April!

There was a heavy snowfall in April in Taebaek, Gangwon Province. From yesterday afternoon until 11:00 a.m.(April 9), the amount of snow in Taebaek is 22.5 centimeters.

This is the largest amount of snow that fell in April since the weather observation in the Taebaek area, said an official at the Gangwon Provincial Meteorological Administration.

Weather observation in the Taebaek area began in 1985.

Currently, Taebaek has a heavy snow warning, but the snow is melting fast on major roads and alleys in the city due to the lack of morning temperatures.

Due to this, there were no major inconveniences on the way to work, and no heavy snow damage was reported.

The city of Taebaek began snow-clearing operations around major passways and downtown roads from 6 p.m. on Tuesday, when the heavy snow warning was issued.

National roads, provincial roads and downtown roads are all in normal condition.

“We will concentrate all our energy on snow removal in accordance with the weather agency’s forecast that snow will continue into the afternoon,” a Taebaek city official said.

The Gangwon Provincial Weather Service forecast one to five centimeters more snow in the mountainous region of Gangwon Province by 9 p.m. on
