The Korea Meteorological Administration said the warm weather is likely to continue except for one or two brief cold spells in March.

On Monday, the mercury in some parts of Korea is expected to climb to 16 degrees, with 10 degrees in Seoul, 11 degrees in Daejeon, 14 degrees in Gwangju, 15 degrees in Daegu and 16 degrees in Busan. But the balmy weather will exacerbate toxic smog.

The National Institute of Environmental Research said high concentrations of fine dust are expected in southwestern parts on Monday amid static atmospheric conditions.
