The 28th Seoul Music Awards, who is the brightest star this year?

The 28th High1 Seoul Music Awards is the place where the music industry will be reckoned in 2018. The awards will be held on January 15 at Gocheok Sky Dome, Seoul for about 3 hours and 30 minutes starting at 6:50 p.m.

Daesnag (Grand Award) the main award ceremony and the highest honor, is awarded to only one team. There is also great interest in the 12 Bonsang trophies given to artists representing the KPOP music industry in the year. The winning team of the Seoul Music Awards will be selected through digital music and album sales (40 percent), mobile voting results (30 percent), and judges (30 percent). Rookie awards are determined by the same selection criteria.

The “Best Album Award” will be based on qualitative evaluations such as the music scores judged by the judges and quantitative evaluations based on the number of album sales. “The Best Digital Music Award” will also reflect the number of downloads and streaming of various music source sites and discussion by the judges at the same time.

Other awards include the Ballad Awards, which cover the best ballads in 2018, the Dance Performance Awards which identify the team’s most colorful performances in 2018, the R&B Awards which show the direction of black music in 2018 and over-ground or indie scenes, the most prominent band to give the Band Award. Also, the Discovery Award, which awarded to the team with the greatest potentials across all genres and divisions, and the Special Judges Award which awarded to the team whose judges have performed well during the year.

Meanwhile, the mobile voting period will be until midnight on January 11 next year. Voting is available after downloading the official voting app from Google Play Store or Apple’s iPhone App Store. Voting participants will receive invitations and gifts such as various goods, coffee coupons and the latest mobile phones through the event.

The mobile voting sector, in which fans participate, is divided into the Bonsang, Rookie Award, Popularity Award and the Hallyu Special Award. Among them, the most competitive sectors among fans are the Popularity Awards held in domestic polls and the Hallyu Special Award, which is held in overseas voting. While the percentage of mobile voting reflects 30 percent of Bonsang and Rookie Award, the Popularity Award is 100 percent with domestic votes and the Hallyu Special Award with overseas votes by 100%. The results of the Popularity Award and Hallyu Special award were often unknown until the last day of the vote due to the enthusiastic fans’ interest.

The 28th High1 Seoul Music Awards will be broadcast live on KBS dramas, KBS Joy and KBS W at 6:50 p.m. on January 15. The online mobile broadcast will be broadcasted live worldwide via BBANGYA TV, and the Red Carpet event, which will take place before the event, will be also broadcast live on BBANGYA TV.
