The red sunset glow over Bukhansan National Park, the glittering stars and the twinkling lights of the lighthouse at Hallyeohaesang National Park, and a picturesque scene of lotus flowers at Juwangsan National Park: these are the views that are captured in prize-winning photos of The 17th Photo Contest of Korea National Parks. The Korea National Park Service unveiled the photos on Nov. 11.

The beauty of Korean parks is captured in framesKim Gyu-wan’s “One Summer Dream,” which shows the flaming sunset over Bukhansan Mountain, won the grand prize.

The photo contest, which was held from Aug. 1 to Aug. 30, received 4,610 photos that introduced the scenery, ecology and historical culture of the Korea National Parks.

The beauty of Korean parks is captured in framesThe first prize, “The Night is More Beautiful at Somaemuldo Island,” shows the sparkling lights of boats, lighthouses and stars across the sky at Somaemuldo Island.

Among 80 prize-winning works, Kim Gyu-wan’s “One Summer Dream,” which artistically expresses the sunset over Bukhansan Mountain, won the grand prize.

The first prize was given to Kim Ju-hyun’s “The Night is More Beautiful at Somaemuldo Island,” which paints the blue lights of stars, boats and lighthouses at the Hallyeohaesang National Park. Lee Soon-sub’s “The Janggunbong Peak in Water,” which shows the beauty of lotus flowers at the Juwangsan National Park, also received the first prize.

The beauty of Korean parks is captured in frames“The Winter of Ssanggye Pavilion,” which shows the snowy scenery of Ssangye Pavilion at Baekyangsa Temple of Naejangsan National Park, also received the second prize.
