The number of confirmed cases of new coronavirus infections in Korea increased by 146 from the previous day.
The KCDC said the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases as of midnight rose by 146 from midnight the previous day. Of the 146 new confirmed cases, 71 came from Daegu, while two more confirmed cases were added in North Gyeongsang Province.
In addition, 21 people have confirmed new cases in each region, 18 in Seoul, 5 in Incheon, 2 in South Chungcheong Province, 1 in Busan, 1 in Gangwon Province and 1 in Jeju Island. There are 24 confirmed cases by the quarantine process.
The number of deaths came to 144, added five from the previous day’s tally at midnight.
The total number of COVID-19 recovered cases surpassed the number of isolated patients for the first time. It has been 68 days since the first COVID-19 case was reported on Jan. 20 this year.
The cure rate also exceeded 50 percent for the first time. While the number of confirmed patients who were completely cured and released from quarantine has increased day by day, the increase in new confirmed cases has been slowed.
The number of confirmed patients who were completely cured and released from quarantine rose 283 to 4,811 from the previous day, more than 4,523 confirmed cases under quarantine.
