Global idol group BTS has won “Daesang” the 2018 MAMA award for the third year in a row.
On the afternoon of the 12th December, a ceremony was held at Super Arena in Saitama, Japan to award the 2018 MAMA FANS’ CHOICE in JAPAN. Following the red carpet event at 5 p.m., the ceremony was held at 7 p.m.
MC Park Bo-gum introduced ‘Worldwide Fan Choyce Top 10’. Before the award ceremony, the top 10 teams were selected, including official online voting, SNS votes, and global music video hits. At the same time, they voted for the World Wide Icon of the Year by holding a real-time SNS poll with 100 percent of fans among the top 10.

The newly created award this year is given to the best artists selected by fans.
The top 10 winners were BTS, TWICE, MONSTA X, NCT 127, NU’ESTW, Wanna One, BlackPink, GOT7, MAMAMOO and SEVENTEEN.
Starting with the top 10 trophies, BTS won three gold medals at the awards ceremony, including the Favorite Music Video Award and the Favorite Male Dance Artist Award.
“I appreciate the BTS members who are always with us, and I love you, ARMY,” said Jin, who won the top 10 trophy.
After receiving the music video award, Jimin said, “Thank you for watching our music video a lot, and thank the director for filming the music video.” “I want to say thank you to ARMY and many people who enjoy listening&watching to music videos. I’m going to shoot a music video later. Please look forward to it,” V said. “I’ll do a jacket shoot. And my favorite music video is ‘Spring Day,’ and I want to spend this day like a spring day,” he said.
The final stage of “2018 MAMA” in Japan was set by BTS. The rock version of “FAKE LOVE” and “Anpanman” under the theme of “The Birth of Heroes” have excited fans.
Actor Jang Hyuk announced the winner of the “Daesang” prize, and the main character of ‘Welcome to the Next’ was BTS. They have been winning the Daesang prize for three consecutive years since 2016 at the MAMA Awards, and have been showing off the spirit of four gold medals on the day.

Jin was the first to shout out the fan club “ARMY~.” “I am pleased that WorldWide Handsome received the WorldWide Icon Award.(Laughing) A few years ago, we used to be part of a small company, and we met ARMY on a good opportunity to become a singer who was even given the Daesang prize. Thank you so much. I think BTS worked hard for this award. I think ARMY got this award for joining us. I will love you all my life.”
The BTS will also attend the Hong Kong Awards, the final stage of the 2018 MAMA, which will be held on the 14th. As there are still three more Daesang left, it is expected to add another record.
