K-pop boy band iKON won the Digital Song of the Year Award with its hip-hop tune “Love Scenario” at the prestigious Golden Disc Awards on Saturday.
The four-member band won the award ― one of the biggest ― after defeating several K-pop sensations such as BTS, BIG BANG and TWICE.
“It is extremely thrilling,” said B.I, the leader. “I would like to thank our fan club first, for letting us exist and loving our songs ― it is our honor to live in your memories.”
Rapper Bobby expressed his gratitude. “Thank you so much for giving us great affection from the beginning of the new year,” he said.
B.I and Bobby contributed to making the song, which topped the Melon music chart, one Korea’s most popular online music streaming sites, for 43 days in a row from Jan. 2018. The song’s music video has garnered more than 200 million views on YouTube.
iKON, managed by YG Entertainment, made its debut in 2015, with “My Type.” The group won the Best Song of the Year Award at the 2018 Melon Music Awards on Dec. 1. iKON will release its new song “I’M OK” on Sunday.
