A summer festival inviting people to play with squirt guns will be held on Yonsei-ro Street in Sinchon, western Seoul, over the weekend, Seodaemun-gu Office said, Thursday.
The seventh Sinchon Water Gun Festival will be presented from 11 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday under the theme of “Retake the Kingdom.”
The concept of the event is that warriors from all over the world come to take back the kingdom of Sinchon stolen by rebels. People will be squirting water at each other around the main stage set up in the middle of the car-free street.
The festival is free of charge and participants can either bring their own water gun or buy one on the spot. Water will be provided there as well.
Various shows including street performances and DJ sets are prepared along with water gun fights at the festival. There is also a kid zone for children to play.
“Sinchon Water Gun Festival gives special joy to the participants ― be it man or woman, local or foreigner. They can have water gun fights with people they have just met. I hope many people will come and relieve stress during the event and regain their energy,” Seodaemun-gu Office head Mun-seok-jin said.
