Why does Everland hold the Tulip Festival?

Tulip is a flower that is not easy to see in Korea. The national flower of Netherlands and Turkey, tulips, are known to originate in southeastern Europe and Central Asia. Flowers such as forsythia, azaleas, cherry blossoms and plum blossoms all over the country but tulips are different. It was a flower that can be seen in a botanical garden.

However, there is a place where you can see tulips for a month in a year without any difficulty. You can enjoy more than 1.2 million tulips in one place. Everland is located near Yongin in Gyeonggi Province with low mountains. Although the Rose Festival was held in June 1985, it was a difficult time to see it as spring season. Visitors often go to see flowers in March and April. However, Yongin-si where the Everland located is worse than Seoul, and forsythia blooms about 20 days late and spring flowers will be seen in late April and early May. On the other hand, the largest cherry blossom festival, Jinhae Gunhangje Festival  and the Jeju Island Rape Flower Festival are held from the end of March.

Everland’s tulip was the answer they found to catch the spring enthusiast. The tulip is a variety of species that are intensely colorful, gorgeous, and improved for your senses. It blooms longer than the other spring flowers. When the cherry blossoms are full bloom, the tulip will last for one month during the festival.

Everland has imported over one million tulip roots from the Netherlands in October 1991. Everland, which started its first tulip festival in April of the following year, opened its tulip festival every year from the middle of March to the end of April. Especially, this year, tulip exhibition area expanded more than 40% than last year. More than 10 species of rare tulips are also exhibited.

This weekend we hear news of the flower festival bursting from the warm southern area. Jinhae Gunhangje Festival has begun already. If you are a citizen of Seoul, traveler or metropolitan area who can not go a long way, why not enjoy the beautiful tulips in nearby Everland.
